Spelunke: Food lovers ahoy
Dive in and enjoy is the motto of the Spelunke am Donaukanal. The restaurant for gourmets and foodies offers honest and creative cuisine and has a brunch menu from Monday to Saturday until 5 pm. The menu at the Spelunke ranges from breakfast classics such as egg dishes, ham and eggs and chive bread (a Viennese favorite) to subtle crispy bread creations with chili or truffles. And of course there are also delicacies for vegetarians and vegans. Our highlight: A live band provides a special atmosphere every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., providing the soundtrack to your brunch enjoyment.
Café Landtmann: Where Vienna is at home
Café Landtmann is one of the most beautiful old Viennese coffee houses and offers an imperial atmosphere for breakfast in the center of Vienna. Have you always wanted to visit one of Vienna's legendary coffee houses and experience the city's tradition? Then Café Landtmann is the right place for you, as the listed coffee house dating back to 1873 has many stories to tell. In the classically elegant decor, you can immerse yourself in the history of Vienna and enjoy the city's famous apple strudel with a Melange. Figlmüller brioche and breadcrumbs: a deluxe schnitzel roll to start the day
Brioche und Brösel is a pop-up kiosk from the legendary Figlmüller schnitzel dynasty. Here you can get Viennese-style burgers with schnitzel or boiled beef. The Brioche und Brösel stand in Rotenturmstraße offers a special breakfast in the center of Vienna, ideal if you like to eat “on the go” and still want to enjoy Viennese cuisine. The luxury version of the classic Schnitzelsemmel comes in a fluffy brioche roll and is filled with a veal Wiener Schnitzel, salad, preserved lemons, onion marmalade and parsley mayonnaise. The second Viennese gourmet burger offers a sous-vide cooked Tafelspitz with potatoes, horseradish and chive sauce. You should definitely not miss out on this for your Vienna experience.
Vollpension: cake like grandma used to make
Where do you get the best cake? Grandma's, of course. Vollpension is a generational coffee shop that has won our hearts with its living room charm and homemade pastries. The social concept behind Vollpension helps to combat loneliness and poverty in old age, promotes intergenerational dialog and creates a sense of togetherness. The Vollpension Café in Johannesgasse invites you to have breakfast in the center of Vienna and offers grandma's apple strudel as well as art and music from Vienna, just around the corner from St. Stephen's Cathedral. The second location of Vollpension can be found at the Naschmarkt, in the form of a family-run eatery between cheeky kitsch and coziness, including a pub garden. What both restaurants definitely have in common: Everything is prepared with love. And if you would like to bake like grandma yourself, you can also visit the baking academy, where you can learn how to bake step by step.
Tip: With the Vienna Welcome Card you also get a traditional special at the Vollpension.

On the top floor of the Haus des Meeres you will find the 360° Ocean Sky restaurant, which offers a spectacular view over Vienna. Café Schopenhauer: brunch with the philosophers
Café Schopenhauer is a real Viennese insider tip and a classic Viennese coffee house. Artists and neighbors meet here and you can experience the real Viennese charm, off the beaten tourist track. The coffee house is classically furnished and offers a Viennese menu as well as a small bookshop, games evenings and regular music events and readings. On the brunch menu (until 4 pm) you will find philosopher's dishes, such as avocados and poached eggs on sourdough bread with Plato - our personal favorite - and Sigmund Freud reveals a classic Viennese breakfast. The very brave can indulge in an espresso and a cigarette with the Simone de Beauvoir breakfast. And of course, chive bread is also on the menu here, as we have already mentioned: it is simply part of Vienna.
Gloriette Café: breakfast like in imperial times
The Gloriette awaits you in the heart of Schönbrunn Palace Park, where you will find one of the most magnificent coffee houses in the city. Here, culinary delights are combined with history and the breathtaking neoclassical building once served as a breakfast room for Emperor Franz Joseph I. Understandable, because who wouldn't want to have breakfast here with a view of Vienna and Schönbrunn Palace? The Gloriette Café offers breakfast arrangements until 11:30 a.m., from Viennese breakfast to champagne breakfast, all the classics are available here. You will also find a whole page of the menu dedicated to the various Viennese coffee specialties. Einspänner or Melange? Find out all the secrets of Viennese coffee culture here.
Motto am Fluss: The recreational island in the middle of the city
Motto am Fluss is located on the banks of the Danube Canal and offers a restaurant in the Venetian style of the 1950s and an upper deck with a café and sun terrace. In the café you can have breakfast in the center of Vienna and enjoy the view as far as the Kahlenberg. The menu includes breakfast dishes until 4 pm, from smoked salmon and breakfast sandwiches to vegan scrambled eggs. We also recommend the desserts from the in-house patisserie, where those with a sweet tooth can happily fill their bellies - including with Viennese classics such as Sachertorte. And before anyone asks: yes, in Vienna it does qualify as breakfast!
Café Sperl: Old Viennese coffee house tradition
Café Sperl is an old Viennese coffee house with history. Founded in 1880, Café Sperl quickly became the living room for numerous artists and statesmen. Film buffs will know the café best from “Before Sunrise”, in which Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy perform their famous telephone scene here. In addition to typical Viennese coffee specialties and pastries, the menu also includes the Sperl breakfast (until 12 noon), sandwiches and a selection of egg dishes.
