Whether you want to start the new year as a party mouse in a club, treat yourself to a relaxed dinner with your loved ones or prefer to spend the final hours of the year doing sports: here we reveal the coolest events for New Year's Eve in Vienna.

Tip: Make sure you get the Vienna Welcome Card in advance. It gives you free and relaxed travel from one party to the next on Vienna's public transport system.

Vienna New Year's Eve Trail

We start our list of the coolest New Year's Eve parties in Vienna with a bang: the Vienna New Year's Eve Trail is the finely polished gem among Vienna's New Year's Eve celebrations. The celebrations take place at eight locations throughout the city, making the New Year's Eve spectacle one of the biggest in Europe. You can dance into the New Year under the open night sky to the sounds of disco and DJ beats from Rathausplatz to Stephansplatz and Kärntner Straße to the Wintermarkt in the Prater - and it's completely free. But beware: the popping here is limited to champagne corks, because instead of fireworks there's a colorful laser show at midnight.

New Year's Eve party in the Volksgarten

Another absolute hotspot for New Year's Eve in Vienna is the Volksgarten. And no, we're not talking about the pretty park opposite the parliament. One of the most popular parties of the year awaits you in the trendy Viennese club of the same name: from 11 pm, you can dance the night away on three floors - cool beats and an exuberant party atmosphere included, of course. In short: the New Year's Eve party at Voga, as we Viennese affectionately call the club, has legendary status. That's why you should make sure you get tickets in advance so that you don't have to experience the turn of the year in a queue.

New Year's Eve on the Badeschiff

New Year's Eve in Vienna with a difference? The Badeschiff on the Danube Canal is the place to be. The motto: dance, dance, dance. A colorful mix of swing, rock'n'roll and hut fun will keep your dancing legs swinging until the early hours of the morning. Tip: If you want to sway into the New Year with a good portion of indulgence, it's best to get a ticket with buffet access and feast on delicacies ranging from smoked fish to spinach dumplings. At midnight, you can look forward to chili con carne and a glass of Prosecco. Want to get a little sportier in between? Then challenge your companion to a game of curling directly over the water.

New Year's Eve party at Zoku Vienna

What would New Year's Eve in Vienna be without a great view over the city? A New Year's Eve with a view is absolutely guaranteed at the New Year's Eve party at Zoku Vienna - spectacular fireworks in the Prater included. From 7 pm, you can start the evening with a luxurious buffet, accompanied by live music and professional dancers. Afterwards, the dance floor is all yours: DJ duo Good Vibes Club will provide you with the perfect soundtrack for the new year until the early hours of the morning. In between, you can sample a huge selection of included drinks, toast with champagne at midnight and then treat yourself to a Käsekrainer snack. This is how New Year's Eve goes!

Cirque Rouge New Year's Eve gala at the Vindobona

Fancy a little trip back in time? Celebrate New Year's Eve in the style of the 1920s at the Vindobona dinner theater in Vienna. A glamorous gala dinner show with breathtaking artistry, burlesque, drag and comedy awaits you at the Cirque Rouge New Year's Eve gala. Best of all, while you are enchanted by the four shows, you can also feast on a delicious 5-course menu. But that's not all, because at midnight you can not only pop the corks, but also look forward to a little surprise.

Vienna New Year's Eve run

New Year's Eve in Vienna - but make it sporty. The annual Vienna New Year's Eve run is the most dynamic way to start the new year. The route runs for around five kilometers along Vienna's Ringstrasse past some of the city's most beautiful sights, such as the State Opera, several museums, the Hofburg and the Burgtheater. Really cool: The run starts at 11 a.m., so there's enough time for you to throw yourself into a New Year's Eve party after a well-earned break.
