The Vienna Actionism Museum (WAM) offers a representative and permanent platform for Viennese Actionism, one of the most important art movements of the 20th century. The museum's collection houses one of the largest holdings of works by the artists Günter Brus (*1938-2024), Hermann Nitsch (1938-2022), Otto Muehl (1925-2013), Rudolf Schwarzkogler (1940-1969) and Alfons Schilling (1934-2013) from the early 1960s and 1970s. The WAM is the only museum in the world that is permanently dedicated to the development of Vienna Actionism in all its complexity. In addition, the WAM also promotes contemporary performance and action art by bringing current artistic positions into dialogue with Vienna Actionism in regular exhibition projects.
